Scarlet Witch - Wanda Maximoff

[ CHARACTER INFO ]
Birth Name: Wanda Maximoff
Nicknames: Gypsy Witch, Wanda Frank, Wanda Magnus, Ana Maximoff
Codename: Scarlet Witch
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Mutant Abilities: There is very little that the Scarlet Witch cannot do. In most cases, all it takes is a thought for Wanda to be able to project her powers onto the reality around her. Specifically, Wanda's powers effect probability and with a single gesture, she can change the odds of anything. However, her powers have been dangerously unstable since she got them and even on her best days, can do more damage than good. The easiest way for Wanda to control her powers and have a weapon at her command is by using her hex bolts which cause a disturbance in the reality of their target when hit. Wanda can basically shape the world around her to her own liking, but she manages to subconsciously limit it incredibly in fear of hurting those she cares for. Her greatest limit though, is that her powers can only be channelled through her hands and take a certain amount of mathematics and calculation to have them work correctly, otherwise, she is simply dealing with chaos.
Affiliation: Brotherhood

[ APPEARANCE ]
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 132lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Defining Traits: None.
Clothing Styles/Colors: When not wearing her uniform, Wanda tends to dress comfortably in casual jeans and shirts. As can be seen from her costume, red is a color that Wanda gravitates towards in most of her clothes.

[ ETC ]
Brief Personal History: Wanda, alongside her brother Pietro, was born to the gypsy Magda and her husband, Magnus, also known as the mutant Magneto. Before the twins were born, Magda ran from Magneto after he had shown her the true fury of his powers. Fearing for her and her children’s lives, Magda hid from him in Wundagore, a scientific city where she gave birth to the twins. Soon after the twins were born, Magda ran again, walking into the frozen mountain to die so that Magneto could not hunt them down.

Wanda and Pietro were given to a passing family of gypsies, Django and Marya Maximoff, who raised the twins as if they were their own. As they began to grow, the mutant abilities of both children began to show and it was soon discovered that Wanda could cause strange phenomenon to occur simply by waving her hands and Pietro was able to move faster than the blink of an eye.

Though the children grew up fairly happy with their gypsy family, Wanda always fitting in more than Pietro due to her darker skin and hair, they were terribly poor and Django had resorted to stealing food for his starving family. Unfortunately, Django was discovered and the gypsy family was attacked with both of their foster parents being killed. Using his amazing speed, Pietro was able to run away with his sister and the occassion was so traumatic, it would be a long time before either of them could remember the terrible things that had happened. For many years, the twins lived in Europe on their own, caring for each other as only they could. They lived off the land together, using their powers to their advantage when they could, but it wasn’t until Wanda lost control of one of her hexes and set a house in town on fire that things took a turn for the worst. The people believed her to be a witch and began attacking Wanda and Pietro. Quite unexpectedly, the twins were saved by a mysterious mutant with magnetic powers. Magneto had been lured in by their own powers and saw the twins as the perfect addition that he needed for his new Brotherhood. However, neither the twins nor Magneto knew anything of their relation to each other at the time.

Out of a sense of obligation, the twins went along with Magneto and fought by his side, understanding some of the discriminations of the Brotherhood, but never quite seeing eye to eye with their father and fully intending to leave the Brotherhood once they had finished their debt to their leader. Though they went through many turmoils, it didn’t take long though for the twins to eventually grow tired of Magneto’s ideals and at the first chance they got, Magneto being attacked by The Stranger and losing most of the Brotherhood, Wanda and Pietro turned their backs on him completely.

Once they had left the Brotherhood, Pietro saw an advertisement that The Avengers were looking for new teammates and the mutant managed to convince his sister that they should join. Despite the X-Men trying numerous times to get the twins to join them, both continuously refused, wanting nothing to do with the ongoing feud that they had formerly been apart of. They were Avengers now and would be forever. At least, that was what they believed. It wouldn't take long for Wanda and Pietro to struggle with their team, Pietro always overly protective of his sister and Wanda constantly trying to just find her place amongst everyone.

As time went by, Wanda and Pietro eventually learned that Magneto was the father that had abandoned them and though they went through many episodes of trust and lack there of, Wanda eventually came to feel some sort of warped affection for her father and once again joined the Brotherhood with her brother.
